Caring for Senior’s Mental Health Amidst the Pandemic

The past few months have been challenging for everyone. There is instability in the economy and the medical system; everyone is affected. Such tremendous changes often trigger anxiety and can escalate to severe mental health problems.

People of all ages are affected by anxiety and depression. The condition may vary on a case to case basis. It can hit seniors in a more severe way than others. Seniors tend to feel isolated and alone, given the circumstances of the current situation, they might be pushed over to the edge.

In this time, seniors would need extra help. They would need constant monitoring from registered nurses, caregivers, and family members. Everyone around them has to take precautions to avoid contracting the virus and infecting the elderly. With limited interactions, families have to find a better way of communicating with seniors and give them attention.

ABC Westminster Day Health Center is a senior care center in Westminster, California. Even before the pandemic, we have always put so much importance on the mental health of our patients. We provide psychological counseling, do engaging activities, and provide support for families as well.

In this trying time, we advise everyone to pay attention to their mental health. This one is difficult but we can always look out for one another. You can still contact our adult day care in Santa Ana, California for inquiries and other services. Let us lend you a hand.
