Tips to Boost Senior Memory

Tips to Boost Senior Memory

Like all things that a person wishes to retain (muscle mass or a certain skill) memory needs to be taken care of and used. Today, we at ABC Westminster Day Health Center (a certified Senior Care Center in Westminster, California) are giving you a list of memory-boosting tips for you to use in your everyday life.

  • Get Enough Sleep.

Sleep is an important factor in proper cognitive functioning. The mind organizes and sorts information in our sleep, making it easier to recall when needed. Aim for at least 7 to 8 hours of it every night.

  • Stay Organized.

Keep a planner of appointments, meetings, and other important activities to help you remember when and where you have to be, and what you have to be doing. This helps ease the stress and worry related to memory concerns, as well as keep you up-to-date with events.

  • Be More Active.

Regular physical activity improves blood flow and wards off stress, which can contribute greatly to memory loss. Getting 30 – 45 minutes of exercise is enough to keep things working.

  • Drink More Water and Eat Better Food

Staying hydrated is the first to a healthy diet, as dehydration can affect cognitive processing. Eating lean meats, lots of fruits and vegetables, as well as whole grains round out a healthy lifestyle.

All these you can get from our Adult Day Care in Santa Ana, California!
